Rotary and Tube Bundle Dryers
A PARTNERSHIP THAT
COMPLETES US
ROTARY DRYERS AND TUBE BUNDLE DRYERS:
THERE ARE MANY KINDS OF EFFICIENT DRYING TECHNOLOGY
Büttner has the right drying systems for the right industrial applications. Directly heated rotary dryers are primarily suited to drying wood, OSB strands, biomass, sugar beet chips, and bulk mass, as well as by-products from the ethanol, starch, beverage, and plant oil industries. Tube bundle dryers are also frequently used for bulk mass. Drying systems are heated using suitable burners or energy systems.
Directly Heated Rotary Dryers
Efficient, versatile, and robust drying systems for wood chips, OSB strands and other biomass.
Büttner directly heated rotary dryers offer a multitude of heating options as well as efficiency and sturdiness. They are used to dry wood chips, OSB strands, sugar beet chips, DDGS, pomace, and any pourable wood products, biomass, and other bulk mass.

They’ve Thought of Everything:
- Water attenuation depends on the product and can reach up to 80 metric tonnes per hour
- Direct heating using multi-fuel burners in combustion chambers
- Direct heating using flue gases from power plants
- Direct heating using waste gases from turbines or motors
- Any combination of these heating systems is possible
- In cases of high humidity, a streamtube can be fitted upstream for pre-drying and coarse particle removal
- Product segregation using cyclone separator or drop-out box
- Where needed, the dried material can also be remixed

Indirectly heated tube bundle dryers
Drying systems for bulk mass—developed for coupling with CHP
Büttner indirectly heated tube bundle dryers are primarily used in combination with combined heat and power (CHP) systems. They deliver reliable and efficient drying for wood chips and other easily pourable wood products, feedstuffs (DDGS, oilseed meal/cakes, corn gluten feed, spent grain, etc.), biomass, and bulk mass.

They’ve Thought of Everything:
- Water attenuation depends on the product and can reach up to 10 metric tonnes per hour
- Indirect heating using steam, hot water or thermal oil
- Often used in conjunction with combined heat and power systems
- Product discharged directly using drop-out box
- Exhaust gases cleaned using cyclone separation or fabric filter
